Nvidia launches free tool that links idle computers into a personal AI data center
What's happening
Nvidia announced PAIR (Personal AI Router), a free, open-source beta tool that finds compatible PCs on a local network and routes independent AI inference requests to whichever system has spare capacity. PAIR works with tools like Ollama and LM Studio, supports Windows, macOS and Linux, and runs on GPUs from RTX 20-series and newer, RTX PRO workstation GPUs, DGX Spark, and Apple M4 or newer. The tool targets local agent workflows and effectively lets multiple home or office machines act as a distributed inference pool for local AI tasks. Nvidia describes PAIR as software, not a hardware router.
Why it's trending
Because more people are running local models and want an easy way to pool idle GPU/CPU capacity for inference across machines now.
