After a Trump administration ultimatum that forced Anthropic to take its Mythos-class models offline, Mythos 5 has been allowed back in a limited way: a government letter and reporting say Mythos 5 is now authorized for use by more than 100 U.S. companies and government agencies, including use by their non-American employees. Anthropic kept Fable 5 (the public-facing Mythos-class model) offline while Mythos 5 returned for a select group. The events followed export-control style demands that initially barred foreign access and triggered negotiations and legal questions about treating hosted AI as an export.
